Call for nominations to the National Biosecurity Advisory Committee.

Australian Grape & Wine is calling for nominations to join the National Biosecurity Advisory Committee.

Committee Purpose

The National Biosecurity Advisory Committee plays a critical role in safeguarding the Australian grape and wine sector from biosecurity threats.
It provides advice to Australian Grape & Wine and Wine Australia on emerging biosecurity issues, helping to promote safe and sustainable winegrape growing through collaboration, policy input, and research prioritisation.

The Committee’s objectives include:

  • Advising on emerging biosecurity issues and risks across the vine-to-wine supply chain.
  • Developing whole-of-sector biosecurity policy to ensure sustainable and resilient viticulture.
  • Providing input to Australian Grape & Wine’s Biosecurity Annual Operating Plan and identifying research priorities for Wine Australia.
  • Reviewing national surveillance systems, diagnostics, and preparedness.
  • Supporting best-practice biosecurity adoption through advocacy, communication, and coordination with government and industry.

Through Australian Grape & Wine, the Committee engages with Plant Health Australia, Wine Australia, State and Federal Governments, and industry stakeholders to align sector priorities with national biosecurity strategies.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria

The Committee will comprise up to ten members appointed for a three-year term, with the opportunity for renewal by mutual agreement.

  • Skills across areas such as pest management, risk assessment, research, innovation, and stakeholder engagement.
